Special Delivery Items go off weight (only) when it comes to cost and not size like with standard mail. So if you have to send anything small like keys, debit card, dvd, games etc via special delivery - then send them in a big box. That way somebody from your delivery office will fetch it round to you, much earlyer then the postman.

Mar 17, 2009 · If the Special Delivery items fit in the sacks with the normal post, they will be delivered with the normal post, and the postman will knock for a signature. If the items are too big or too heavy to fit in the sacks, they will be given to a driver, who will come separately and knock for the signature.

Aug 05, 2010 · It might be different where you live, but my usual postman doesn't deliver Special Delivery items. They come at a different time, delivered by a man in a van. So it might be a waste of £5.05. Recorded Delivery items do go in the normal post, so something posted first class "should" stand a good chance of next day delivery.

Dec 05, 2007 · Not very happy with priority 1-3 day. It depends on the country. In Canada, if priority mail is ready for delivery when the regular postman is preparing his deliveries, it goes with him. If it is not ready, a truck is sent out later with the package and it is delivered separately.
