No, do it all the time. Company gets a deal at hotels which are often very posh but expenses is a maximum of £20 a day. Last hotel I stayed in which was in Leeds didn't even have one dish on the menu for under £20. I was going to go get a chinese and asked the concierge who recommended a local Thai restaurant instead.

Breakfast bars, granola, cookies, etc. that can be put right in your purse and taken into the park will make things a lot less expensive for you.

In the UK, is it considered acceptable to bring takeaway food to your hotel room? In the United States, this would certainly be acceptable. However, a friend of mine who travels to Paris mentioned that food in the hotel room is certainly not the norm and his usual hotel forbids it. I certainly know not to be messy and don't eat in the bed.
