What brought it to my attention was when my Mom asked me how I emailed her on October 2nd when the date was September 30. The windows clock was displaying the correct time, but it was changing my time zone setting.

Jan 16, 2013 · I'm not sure you can. Also, it technically isn't deactivated, but rather nuetered. It doesn't get updates, force shut downs every 2 hours, you can't access free MS software, ect. Basically, it drives you mad until you go so insane you get forced into upgrading.
