My wife and I spent many hours in the Heinz History Center on a recent visit to Pittsburgh. I was especially impressed with the "neighborhoods" sections, which not only included a Mr. Rogers area, but artifacts about the different ethnic groups that lived in Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh innovators exhibit was also fascinating.

Hours are 10-5. I'd allow 3-4 hours if you are the type who enjoys reading all of the exhibit notes. The kidsburgh exhibit has a cute slide, a cow, but it looks like the centerpiece-water play-was removed. The sports museum has some fun interactive sections. Of course, Heinz has an exhibit about its history and other products.
