On a recent weekend getaway in Jim Thorpe I had the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the Harry Packer Mansion Inn and enjoy some drinks on the veranda from Libations Lounge. Admission for the tour was $2. Drink prices were within normal range for the high-end products offered.

Built as a wedding present in 1874, the Harry Packer Mansion now serves as a luxury inn within the Mauch Chunk Historic district of Jim Thorpe, PA, just 1 1/2 hours from Philadelphia and NYC.The Mansion was used by Disney as a model for the Haunted Mansion so it is only fitting that it is known for its award-winning Murder Mystery Weekends.

The Mansion will be open weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in April, May and November on Saturdays & Sundays from 11:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. The Mansion is open seven days a week from Memorial Day to October 31. Once you purchase tickets, there will be no more than half an hour wait for a tour. The last tour departs promptly at 3:30 unless otherwise noted.
