I like both, but handbrake products take up a lot less space than ripper. However ripper only takes an hour at the most. When I use handbrake it take anywhere from 6 to 8 hours to do using 2-pass encoding and MP4 format. I've check the forums about settings and I have them right. I have a 6 month old PB so it is fast.

11,061. Trying to re-encode an hour long 720p (x264) rip to something that will work on an AppleTV 2. I'm using the Mac version of Handbrake (0.9.6) on a 2.6GHz/8GB/512GB MBP retina. Most of my re-encodes take about 30 minutes for a 480p 30 minute episode. This 720p episode is taking 8 hours.

It takes about 2 - 3 hours for most BDs with my system. I use VidCoder (Handbrake GUI) only for DVD>MKV conversions. It takes about 25 - 30 minutes for DVD>MKV conversion. The content encoded makes a huge difference, along with your encoding settings and what output quality you want.

I'm using Handbrake to convert some DVD folders (video_ts and audio_ts) on my computer into AVI (MPEG-4) files. I'm currently converting a 2 hour movie into a 900MB AVI, and it's taking forever – it'll be about 8-10 hours by the time it's finished. I'm sure it used to be a lot faster, but it's just ridiculous now.

I am converting "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" so I can put it on my Ipad 2. My source is a "mpeg-4 @710MB" with a resolution of "800x320" and the length of the movie is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. I used handbrake to convert it. I …

Handbrake taking 4+ hours to rip DVD. I just picked up an ASUS ZenDrive external 8x DVD Burner for use with my Lenovo X1 Carbon laptop, with the intentions of ripping/digitizing my DVD movie collection. It's taking several hours to rip a single DVD movie and I've tried with several different ones, so I know it's not the DVDs. ...

In handbrake on the audio tab of a raw capture, it lists one stereo track as Unknown PCM 2.0 ch. Once I use handbrake, I get 2x Unknown AAC LC 2.0ch. In audacity, I have inverted one track and mixed to a new track which resulted in the top channel still …

Here are my handbrake settings for the best encoding possible in x264 with a bitrate between 2200 and 2800: problem is, in 2 pass it takes 48 hours to encode a blu ray. I wondered if some specialists here know if there is a way to decrease this time without dramatically decrease the quality of the encode.
