Jan 30, 2012 · Special delivery is guaranteed to arrive, but recorded delivery is not. It's no quicker than ordinary first class, the only difference being the recipient has to sign for it. First class ought to get the OP's parcel delivered by Thursday, but there are no guarantees.

What should happen is that a 1st Class recorded item is processed through the system as an ordinary letter or parcel until delivery. If it is delivered a signature should be obtained and 99% of the time it is.

Nothing gets delayed that long in the post mate, its 99% next day on 1st class, only thing that would delay it to 2 days would be a carryover in the mail centre where there was too much mail for that day ... happens now and again in ours but quite rare really and would definately be sorted the next day, 3 days is MAX for a normal 1st class item , anything longer and theres a different reason why it aint thereAuthor: Logyon
