Griffith Observatory’s grounds and roads are generally open the same hours as Griffith Park, 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., every day. Access to Griffith Park is free, though there is paid parking closest to the Observatory. There are public restrooms located next to the Observatory parking lot.

We visited the Griffith Observatory as apart of the ‘A Day in LA Tour’ and had roughly 45 minutes to explore. This is a great place to see the Hollywood sign and learn more about the planets. There is also a planetarium as well, but we didn’t explore this area (this has a fee). There are several walking trails available throughout the grounds.

Usually morning when it opens. Tour buses come throughout the day, and then lots of people come couple hours before sunset to see sunset, thats why parking is difficult at that time cuz people stay 2-3 hours.. Other times, people look inside, walk around and in and out in 1 hour or so.
