In desperation, I looked outside Maine and found Granite State Whale Watch Inc. in Rye, NH. Tickets were $36 for adults and $23 for kids. I sent them an email at 6:30am the morning of the trip and within a half hour I had a response, and confirmed reservations for the 2pm tour.
