The trail is fairly strenuous but with little total elevation gain. It is not recommended for cross-country skiing because of bumpy terrain, so snowshoes are advised in the winter. Allow for 3-1/2 to 4 hours to hike to the cabin carrying a full overnight pack. The trail continues on another 2 miles past the cabin toward Eagle Glacier.
