In single player, you need to clear all US gang hideouts in 24 hours game time. so that means about 20 minutes. -Dont fast travel as it adds 6 hours in the day, ride to every location. -Do it in this order (at least i found it easier): Gaptooth breach, tumbleweed, fort mercer, twin rocks and last is pikes basin.

The clock for the 24 hours starts whenever you start the first hideout so there's no need to wait til midnight or any certain time. You can get all of them done in about 6 hours game time pretty easily. I died a couple times (maybe 3) during the entire US hideout saga and I didn't carry around medicine or horse pills and cleared it really easily.
