The only way for my M20E to get 2700 RPM during the take-off roll is without any flap. With flap setting as recommended by POH, it's only producing 2615 RPM. Since I want to get every bit of performance, I had my A&P out today we did a static full throttle test with engine at …

This guide was put out by Brunswick, Quicksilver’s parent company in 1992. “An engine that does not reach the rated RPM at wide-open-throttle is an “over-propped” condition, resulting in “lugging.”. This high-torque operation puts a tremendous load on the pistons, crankshaft, and bearings. The engine runs much hotter and may ...

Here we focus on the life span of engines which are run at continuously at full throttle. Dave--you have reminded me of an engine from my past, a Yanmar diesel from an old sailboat. In the Yanmar manual, the engine was rated for continuous operation at about 3,000-RPM. The maximum throttle speed of the engine was about 3,300-RPM.

Approx. 4000 rpm. Full throttle run allowed for 2 min every 10 min: note: If your Tohatsu 70/90 hp 3-cylinder outboard is equipped with "oil injection" (automixing of oil/fuel) you should prepare your fuel/oil ratio at 50:1 in the gas tank in addition to using the oil injection feature during the break-in period.

I ran the LT-40 all day Friday cutting with no problems. I set up Saturday at a customers place and cut about 5 hours and noticed the engine RPMs were higher than normal. (Yes, I added the tach recommended by VA Sawyer in the "Saw Mill Mods" post) Normal RPM for the Kohler 25 HP is around 1300 at idle and 3750 at full throttle.

Cruising speed is often the engine rpm that provides good fuel economy and and a boat attitude that provides a comfortable and efficient ride. With my little Whaler and it's 115 Etec, thats around 3500-3600 rpm. Far from its topped out full-throttle 5700 rpm which is down right scary in such a small center console boat. _____

You can be at 2000 RPM at WOT in a car and your engine will be perfectly happy. Or you can redline your engine at 20% throttle for hours and hours and expect a greatly reduced life. Boats are a bit different because there are no gears, and so there’s a …
