2. Re: 36 hours in the Frankfurt area. What. After you pick up your bags at the luggage carousel, you can take a direct train from FRA to MAINZ, just to the west on the Rhine River, in 25 minutes - there are 3 local trains every hour from the "Regionalbahnhof" station at the FRA terminal.

36 hours in Frankfurt, Germany. Unfortunately we had to leave Switzerland after a quick day and a half, but it’s off to our last city-Frankfurt, Germany! For those who have more than 5 hours but less than, or around, 24 hours of transit time, there are several things to do around Frankfurt Airport. Use your time to explore Frankfurt’s delights. Transport is not at all a problem if you wish to head to the city from the terminal. Frankfurt Main Station is about 15 minutes from the airport.

I also have a 7 hour layover in Frankfurt (arriving at 14:45 from Beijing and leaving at 21:30 for Athens), so I guess spending about 3 hours in Frankfurt (from 16:00-19:00) is doable. Any suggestions? It will be Monday, 7th May. Thank you!

For a single ticket, one way (einzel fahrt) costs 4.35 €, but if you are returning to the airport, get an all day ticket for 8.50 €. This ticket will take you into Frankfurt city center by train, and is also valid to get to your final destination in Frankfurt by tram, bus, S-bahn or U-bahn, as long as you keep traveling without a break.
