Fort Putnam is one of the small forts and redoubts that guarded the Hudson River during the Revolutionary War which Benedict Arnold was planning to turn over to the British. The view shows its importance in guarding the river. This is a must see for anyone interested in history or our Revolutionary War.

The best way to know the schedule is on Facebook, but generally Fort Putnam is open on football Saturdays from before the parade until around the end of the game. Amazing views and great history. more less

Fort Montgomery looks to be a cannon overlooking the river, but Fort Putnam looks (in some photos I've found) to be a partial building - so I was trying to figure out if it is possible to drive in and walk around the area? ... (thanks!) and the tour that includes the fort is 2 hours and follows a 1+ hour tour of West Point, which wasn't exactly ...
