The fort is located right off of Lake Huron/Straits of Mackinac, so there was a lot of wind during our visit so take that into account when deciding what to wear. Overall, our tour lasted about 2 1/2 hours but we took our time, took a lot of photos and visited the museum gift shop.

COVID update: Colonial Michilimackinac has updated their hours and services. 19 reviews of Colonial Michilimackinac "You made it! So get out and stretch your legs - you will be glad you did. Restrooms and a visitor center are onsite as well as some history on one of the oldest ongoing archeological projects. There are 14 original buildings on site as well.
