The Filene's in the Chestnut Hill Mall in Newton Ma was a very nice store, but it never had anything we were looking for. Often they would tell us to go over to their Natick Mall location. Macy's turned the Filene's store into a Bloomingdale's.

Filenes Basement closed several years ago. They had too much competition and too many expensive leases and couldn't make it any longer. Many stores that provided merchandise (i.e. Nordstroms and Saks) opened their own outlets so quality merchandise was hard to come by.
