The Electrical Industry Training Center in Long Island City, N.Y. is an 82,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art, hands-on training facility for members of Local Union No. 3, I.B.E.W. The renovated building has three floors of training space and a fourth floor, multi-use event space. The event space is able to seat 240 attendees for a conference.

Day Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 2:30pm, Afternoon: Monday- Friday 2:45pm to 5:45pm, Evening Monday-Friday 6pm to 10:30pm. The number of weeks a student attends class is measured by the maximum number of hours scheduled and does not include holidays or scheduled breaks.

6074 - Electrical Training Program - 600 Hours. This program is designed for those with little or no experience in the electrical industry with a goal to begin a career in the Electrical industry. The student will progressively complete each. course within the program to acquire the entry level skills in each unit of the course.

Each school day is eight 8 hours. Apprentices must have internet access and a computer available in order to complete the homework lessons prior to class. Internet/Computer access can be provided at the training center for those who do not have it elsewhere. Click here for minimum computer specifications. The apprentice will be employed by a signatory contractor doing electrical construction work.

The 10,000-hour training program includes 450 hours of classroom training. Training is generally completed in three years. To measure training progress among apprentices, contractors are surveyed regularly to determine areas in need of additional coverage. Wide-ranging experience is gained during on-the-job training for each electrician.
