    The Area 51 Student Machine Shop is now open by appointment only for extra-curricular use. All users must have authorized access via the COVID Access system and COVID Pass. Before an appointment is scheduled, extra-curricular access will need to be reviewed and approved.

Training Edgerton Center

    Due to the evolving Covid-19 situation, shop trainings are postponed until MIT returns to normal operations. The monthly training program is conducted in the evenings and consists of 12 hours of hands-on instruction. Students learn the basics of milling and lathe work by making two small parts and ultimately fabricating their own steel flashlight.
