When I got back to the office started to look at the problems. Firstly thought it may be something to do with DNS resolutions, however, that checked out ok. I then looked at the SMTP queues and noticed that some messages were stuck in the local deliver queue, all with status "Retry". This was effecting both external and internal email.

hello experts i have a Exchange 2007 server running mailbox, client access and hub tranport roles on same box, today it having problem send and receive internal emails, i found lots of email stuck in mapidelivery queue and even could not being cleared.

This message is sitting in the Local Delivery Queue as well. Also tried sending the message from my Outlook, entering the From address of the sender having the problem (usera) and the recipient (userb). Message sits in Local Delivery Queue. Tried to have usera send the message from OWA and same result. I can send to userb w/o issue.

Oct 26, 2011 · The Exchange server seats behind router in a DMZ. The local users can send and receive messages with no issues. Sending email to external servers is not possible. I managed to find the email queue on the server and enabled message tracking. The last status of the unsent messages on the server is: "Message routed and queued for remote delivery".

One of our users emails is being delayed in the local delivery queue. The only thing that is different about this user is that his email addy isn't the same as his windows login. I'm pretty sure this just started too and he's had this email set up like this for months. Where would i start looking to see what's going on.
