May 28, 2013 · My point is that Exchange 2003 is designed to hold messages that cannot be delivered; the ESE keeps trying, but if it fails the bottom line is the message stays in the queue, is sent to the BadMail folder, or is the subject of a NDR. (SMTP Connector) Remote Delivery DNS is a likely cause of routing problems. Can the two servers ping one another?

Jun 19, 2012 · Exchange just seems to pick a message not to deliver. I have tracked them with Message tracking and they always end with being queued for remote delivery. I have also looked at the SMTP logs and do not see an attempt to deliver to the smart host. I see other messages being sent to the smart host but not the ones that are in retry.

Jul 30, 2013 · exchange 2003 all inbound messages stuck in local delivery queue. ... and our exchange 2003 server running. luckily we had backups, so we thought! ... server and it worked fine until this morning. all of a sudden all inbound messages started getting stuck in the "local delivery" queue. all outbound mail seems to pass through without a problem.

Feb 13, 2003 · I have everything on one box, DC, DNS, ISA and Exchange 2000 (far from ideal I know!), with an ADSL router/modem plugged into external NIC on server. I can't seem to send (or receive for that matter!) outgoing SMTP mail... it sits in a queue under the name of the domain I am trying to send with "(Remote Delivery)" next to it.
