VOLUNTEERING. As part of their participation in the Duke Farms Community Garden, every gardener is required to complete 4 hours of volunteer time for their first plot and 1 hour for each additional plot. It is the responsibility of each gardener to record hours in the online garden profile. Half of these hours must be completed & recorded by August 1.

Gardens hours: Duke Gardens is open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk. Doris Duke Center hours: The Doris Duke Center will be closed during Duke Gardens' phase 2, but the restrooms will be open during limited hours (currently 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily).

The phase 1 hours will remain 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, with entry solely at the Memorial Gate on Flowers Drive. Visitors must bring their current Duke IDs to enter. Duke Gardens is also grateful to be able to welcome back its volunteers, who provide valuable assistance with visitor services, horticulture and other critical tasks.
