My Drobo 2nd gen. is displaying the “data protection in progress” message and all drives in the unit are flashing green & orange. Two days ago it said there was 72hrs left to go and now, 48hrs later it says there are 127hrs remaining! (oops, now its just gone up to 138hrs!!) After 6 hours, Drobo still said “Data protection in progress, do not remove any hard drives”. Out of fear to loose my data, I didn’t just unplug the Drobo in order to sleep. Needless to say that I slept very badly, and I don’t want to repeat that. My questions: can I unplug Drobo while data protection is in progress?Estimated Reading Time: 7 mins

Aug 21, 2009 · Every 3 hours our Retrospect server runs a script to clone all active projects to the drobo. In doing this we’re protected against any failures and at most would only lose 3 hours of work (which could still be a lot, but better than 3 months of work).
