aldol16. Do a simple calculation - if you worked, on average, 3 hours a week per semester and your semester is 14 weeks long, then you worked about 42 hours. Nobody is gonna call your supervisor and say, "So and so said they worked 42 hours on their app but it …

Do volunteer hours for medical schools actually matter? Short answer: Yes. Long answer: The volunteer experience has to mean something to you for you to be able to talk about the experience naturally and authentically during an interview. How many hours do I need for medical school? The number of hours is not as important as what you get out of it.

Nothing. People have been fudging volunteer hours since the beginning of time. Scholarships, college apps, MD apps, program requirements. Every now and then some idiot will claim more hours than humanly possible and get caught, but for the most part it flies under the radar. Wish there was a way to make it stop, though.

Hi buddy, I actually just saw something similar to this on the AMCAS website. It was in the video about the AMCAS. You can't forecast hours, meaning that the hours you provide should be what you have actually completed. However, you can enter "future end dates up to the start of matriculation year (August 20xx)". Hope that helps.

Because of the way it works, it’s pretty easy to do. Most of the time the people you’re shadowing or volunteering under are too busy to track and verify your exact hours. Most med students will tell you it’s fine to round out your hours a little (to the nearest 10). But do tread carefully. Try to do it as close as possible to the actual amount of hours you shadowed.

Then, you can submit your AMCAS on Day 1 and get verified quickly. Once you get your score back, if it's great, you can add the rest of your school list and your application will get sent out on June 29 with everyone else's! Or, if your score is bad, you can withdraw your app and only be considered a reapplicant to that one school in the future.
