PP is correct - the schedule for nursing school & early years in a nursing career is not flexible at all. Oddly enough, it is difficult for nurses to get time off as well - taking 'sick time' (unscheduled time off) can be very difficult due to managers' pressure to maintain staffing 24X7.

From my understanding (and I'm not a nurse) most nurses work twelve-hour shifts, three times a week. Depending on where you are, you may have to alternate weekend shifts. In a few cases you can work eight-hour shifts, but those would be five times a week. 0 Likes.

The difference is the hours are Monday - Thursday 9-5. Friday is 9-1. No call, no weekends. As an RN I work 50 hours a week, nights, and have to do 4 weekend days a month. I also get a month off each year, 15% profit share after overhead is met, and full NP benefits.
