The current floppy disk (89-mm micro floppy) operates on the principles of magnetic recording using magnetic heads for data storage and retrieval on a single rotating magnetic disk. Because of their limited capacity 1.44 megabytes MB and extremely low data transfer rate (0.06 MB/sec), floppy disks are useful only for storing small data files.
