The Division of International Services (DIS) provides immigration-related services to the National Institutes of Health for visiting foreign scientists and the NIH research community. If you are a new visiting scientist who has just arrived in the United States, please check-in with DIS in order to verify your immigration status and learn about your responsibilities in the United States.

A DIS Immigration Specialist is available during our Zoom “Drop-In” advising hours on Monday-Thursday, 1:30 - 3:30 pm EST.

Effective March 2020, the DIS check-in process is completely remote. However, scientists must still be present in the United States to check in with DIS. Scientists should contact their NIH Institute/Center/Office (ICO) administrators report their arrival to the United States and initiate the DIS check-in process.
