there shouldnt be any charge for changing the shifter because the entire shifter has to come off to take the trans apart. 3 hours to remove and replace is a ripoff. more then 2 hours to rebuild it is a ripoff. 3 hours total to r&r and rebuild. i worked as an automechanic for 10 years and rebuilt and still rebuild toploaders. i own 5 toploaders right now. i'v r&r quite a few …

Dan Williams Transmissions probably got David Kee going - DWT was building toploaders in the '70s-80s for NASCAR before they all went to Jerico trannys. Dan hurt his back pretty badly in the mid-80s and had to quit building the trannys. He was already making gears then and even modular gearsets.
