I put their name on the discharge paperwork and schedule a follow up appt a week out. My ped is too far away to come to the hospital, so baby will be seen by an on-site ped, and then we’ll go to our regular one after discharge. If you don’t have one picked out, they likely will assign you to one that does the hospital rotations or is in house.

Jul 20, 2012 · I also don't think the ped needs to be affiliated with your delivery hospital- its much more important to find one you really like and are comfortable with. they can just see the hospital pediatrician after delivery, but you do want one lined up bc they have several appointments in the first few weeks.

they do recommend that you have a pediatrician at birth because you take the baby to that office 3 days after you are home from the hospital. they will normally have an MD circumsize the baby in the hospital. Ask your friends or post something here and list what neighborhood you live in and get some recommendations. good luck!
