I just feel that even though it's their job to make deliveries and lug heavy stuff that they should get some appreciation for it.

Aug 24, 2009 · I use the 20% rule and adjust it for delivery charges and service. For example, if the food cost is $30, 15% is $6.00. If there is a $3.00 delivery charge, I subtract that from the tip amount, and base the tip on $3.00 If the delivery is prompt and the delivery person is professional, I will round the tip up, and maybe even toss in another dollar.
