The text of your log files says "No route to host" -- this could be because your ISP is blocking outgoing smtp traffic, but is not the only reason. (For example, if your linux box has a static route that is no longer valid, you'd get something like the results you are seeing.)

The messages had no attachments. My Outlook account says the last message went out when I sent them, with no indications of multiples being sent. I did get an email which said: _____ "Mail Delivery System <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***> Delayed Mail (still being retried)" This is the mail system at host dougal.rsft.co.uk.

ip route list if you don't have a default route on that interface, you need to add one. sudo ip route add default dev eth0 and then postqueue -f to retry the deferred email or try sending a new one. if you are using a vpn connection to connect your server to the internet your interface probably is ppp0, you can check that via ip a command.
