Aug 12, 2017 · The request is for a "Delivery Receipt" which is a separate message from the recipients phone back to the source phone and indicates successful delivery at the recipients end. This feature is not available on the iPhone 5s. The feature is NOT part of iMessage. It's part of the cell providers text messages systems.

SUMMARY. There is no option to enable SMS delivery report on iPhone and there is no app that can achieve this goal because it is not allowed by Apple. Note: Back in the days when jailbreak was quite common a solution used to exist but jailbreak is not recommended and may be hard to achieve on recent OS.
