Hi All, I have SBS2011. Recently one user complains that everytime he tries to send email to a specific email address (he know this is a valid current email address), it bounces back with the message : 5.4.7 - Delivery expired (message too old) 'TLS Unavailable'

Re: Delivery expired (message too old) I noticed the same issue on a customer ESA and wanted to share my findings. You will likely see a high Active Recipient count when looking at the ESA GUI > Monitor > Delivery Status or via cli typing > tophosts then Active Recipients.

TLS relates to SSL setup for the mail server. This can happen due to expired SSL certificate or improperly configured SSL. Once the SSL is configured correctly, the mail delivery will start working fine.

The logs suggest that the email was bounced as TLS was unavailable on the destination server after the email could not be delivered within the configured bounce profile attempts. It is recommended you set up domain debug logs and packet capture for the destination server IP to confirm cause for TLS failing.
