You may elect to register for as many as 20 credits in these types of courses. If you register for 20 credits of research and then later add a course with credits, it is ok for you to have more than 20 credits- you don’t have readjust your research credit hours. If I drop below 9 credits, am I automatically switched to part-time status?

Most colleges require 120 credit hours to graduate, and that is 15 credit hours per term (two terms per academic year) and that means 15 hours per week in class. Whereas MIT has a different system. MIT requires 360 “credits” to graduate and that is 45 credits per term (two terms per academic year).

Texas engineers must earn 15 PDH credits every year, and at least 1 hour must be on the topic of ethics. These free webinars satisfy the Texas ethics requirement. The presentations are given by TBPE members and cover topics such as TBPE activities, disciplinary hearing case studies, and professional ethics.

Additional Context: the school requires 90 hours beyond BS; the typical graduate core courses (Mass Transport, Thermo, Reactor Kinetics and Process Modelling), 1-2 additional courses, then the balance of hours are 'research credit'. I have had all these courses and they are not required to retake despite that my MS was not from this school.
