How are CME credits calculated? CME credit is designed on an hour-for-hours basis, so for every hour one spends in an educational activity, one would receive 1 CME credit. Many activities include breaks or other activities that do not qualify for CME credit. These hours are not included when determining the total hours of credit for the activity.

To determine the number of CME credits, ABIM MOC points, or hours of participation that you can claim, calculate time spent attending sessions that offer CME. For example, if you attended 2 plenary talks (8:30 AM to 9:30 AM), and watched a 1.5 hour on-demand symposium, you would have a total of 2.5 hours to apply toward CME credits or ABIM MOC points (if applicable) for that day.
