Dec 12, 2011 · I was advised by two diff docs to alternate calpol and nurofen every two hours. I did this last time he was ill. I was also advised to keep him cool. When his temp was sky high we had him in the garden in just a vest, mind you it wasnt as cold as it is now. This worked a treat. Your poor little munchkin. I hope he has a very speedy recovery.

For example, Calpol at 12pm, nurofen at 2pm, calpol at 4pm nurofen at 6pm. Feb 23, 2005 · ibuprofen (nurofen) brings down a temp, paracetomal (calpol) just stabilises it you can give both together by alternating but remember that the nurofen is every 6 hours and the calpol every 4 .. I had to take DD to hospital with high temp when 6 months, they gave her calpol only 40 mins after I'd given nurofen .. so don't think it will matter too much

If you give it every 4 hours round the clock then you will have given 2 doses too many (this is not good for the liver). - Its better to give Calpol SIX hourly OR to alternate it with Nurofen - so every FOUR hours giving one and then four hours later giving the other and so on.. so that each drug is spaced every 8 hours. This regime is for fever only, teething pain should not need this level of medication!
