The Cades Cove Loop Road generally takes 3-4 hours to complete, but most visitors plan to spend a day at Cades Cove. Start the day by taking the self-guided auto tour, then stop for a picnic in a grassy area where you can observe the wildlife, then finish your day with a short hike or more exploring through the Cove.

Cades cove is a long one way road. Traffic was stop and go for most of the 11 miles. You can get better views on the drive up to clingmans dome and you wont be stuck in a huge line of cars. Cades cove did have some old log cabins and a mill (non working) but honestly not worth that traffic jam.
