The Cabo Blanco Reserve is a must visit attraction when on the Nicoya Peninsula. The park opens at 8am and I recommend arriving early to beat the crowds. The cost is $12US which goes toward up keep of the reserve. Closed Monday and Tuesday. We did the 5km hike to the beach which I felt was not too strenuous and I am no hiking or athletic guru.

Cabo Blanco is a great park for a hike. There are two trails open for hiking from Wednesday-Sunday, 8am-4pm. The Sueco Trail is 4.2 km and take approximately 4 hours to complete. A shorter trail called the Danes Trail is also available and it is only 1.5 km long.

In dry season the visibility through the thickets is better, as many trees and shrubs shed their leaves. The Cabo Blanco park is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 8 am – 4 pm. Entrance fee is $ 12. From Montezuma and Cabuya a small public bus drives to the park entrance four times per day.

Combined time of hike and round trip transportation typically takes from 3.5 to 4.5 hours. Please bring a pair of binoculars, camera, enclosed hiking shoes, insect repellent, sun block and rain gear. Park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
