May 12, 2008 · It may just depend on how your delivery goes. I had no tearing and minimal pain after delivery, so I would have been able to drive home from the hospital, but the first time I actually drove was about five days after delivery...I had to go into work to finish up a few things.

For an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, the driving restrictions are generally related to if you are taking a narcotic pain med or not. If you are, you shouldn't drive until you stop taking them. I had a very easy delivery, no tear, only requiring ibuprofen a few times, so I drove 3 days postpartum. Check with your doctor to be sure, though!
