The A/D conversion runs at real time rate, compressing a 6 GB mpg file takes almost 3 hours and the burning takes about 10 minutes.

However, please note that burning 3 hours to a single layer DVD requires lower quality settings to allow everything to fit. It would be better to either burn two single layer DVDs with less time on each or to buy dual layer DVDs that would allow 3 hours to be burned at better quality.

One trick to get more video to fit a DVD is to add about 4 hours of video to Toast and choose Save as Disc Image. When that is done select the resulting .toast file using the Image File setting ...

Apr 12, 2008 · The sensible way to put a 4 hour movie on a 4.7 gb DVD is to use TWO DVDs and retain some quality. I personally would use 3 DVDs, 80 minutes each, which gives maximum quality. The point is, why cram everything onto one DVD and kill the quality. You certainly are not going to sit there glued to the TV for 4 hours.

Sep 09, 2014 · A few days ago I ran into some codec problems. Did some uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling and re-enabling, registry cleaing and so on. Everything seems to be working fine now except when I burn a dvd, it goes thru the whole process (3+ hours), "encoding", "burning", "finishing" then the disc pops out "dvd ready".

Dec 22, 2013 · I’ve recently upgraded to Compressor 4.3 and am having issues with burning a DVD. I used Compressor repair as you suggested to fix the Qmaster missing file thing. When the job is processing, my one hour video (.mov) normally takes about 90 minutes with two pass VBR, but now is taking over 2 hours and it is still saying it’s on the 1st pass?
