On weekends, I would recommend getting there first thing when the park opens up. Four years ago we got there around 8:30 and were able to find parking but after 3 hours all the lots were mostly full. Due to the pandemic, you can only go one way – counterclockwise. The trailhead starts past the fenced dog park and the wooden bridge.

Two hours pass very quickly; the lake is large and it takes some time to get the kayak to the shore and later return to the store or if you want to change clothes and go to the bathroom beforehand. If it becomes more than two hours, they will charge $75 for the whole day automatically.
