Visited Broken Boot Gold Mine with grandma, mom, and 2 kids under 11. We got the tour and 2 gold pans for "panning" gold. Very reasonable price - only $23 for all that. The panning was fun - kids got to swish the rocks and "find" gold flakes, which they then put in a vial and got to keep. Both kids enjoyed it.4.5/5(384)

We passed several gold mine attractions in the Rapid City area and were sure we'd be in for a cheesy, tourist-trappy style experience. Thankfully, we were wrong. We chose Broken Boot because we spent 2 days in Deadwood (thank you HBO show of same name) so it was convenient.
