When I first moved to Boston I stuck to only visiting the ICA on free Thursday nights (5pm and later), but since then they've really come a long way with their programming. By far, the best time to visit is their First Fridays and their summer Fridays. Get tickets in advance because they definitely sell out!

ICA is situated in a cool, newly developed, former harbour area, wich I find suiting for a museum of modern art. We choosed to there from Boston City Center, following the dock side, enjoying the city sky line and the ocean/harbour view.
