Doubling times slow down once your beta is over 1200. My first doubling time was 59 hours, next was 30-something. According to Dr. Google, normal doubling time for a beta less than 1200 is 36-72 hours. Over 1200, it is 72-96 hours.

My first beta was 244. That’s a doubling time of 55 hours, when it’s supposed to be 48 hours — and to be honest, most of the bloggers I read who go on to have healthy pregnancies start off with doubling times of, like, 38 or maybe 42 hours, which makes this even worse.

Thanks for the reassurance. It is just nerve-wracking to have a doubling time of 54 hours and get different messages about it. Technically, I know the minimum they want to see is an increase of 60% over 48 hours - but complete doubling over 48 seems to be the ideal.

My first few betas were more than doubling in 48 hours, but my last beta had a doubling time of 71.20 hours at the 6 week mark. Is this normal? I know that doubling times slow, but I didn't know at what point in the pregnancy this occurs. Is doubling time affected by your levels? In other words, the higher the number, the longer it takes to double?

Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum, the hCG usually takes 72-96 hours to double. Above 6,000 mIU/ml, the hCG often takes over four days to double.A great way to understand just how rapidly these levels increase is to look at weeks 4 and 5 during pregnancy.
