The Rockefellers' Bassett Hall. In 1926, John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his wife, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, were inspired by the vision so eloquently articulated by Rev. Dr. W.A.R. Goodwin of Bruton Parish Church. That vision was to restore the town of Williamsburg to its 18th-century appearance and reveal the story of our nation’s origin to all.

Bassett Hall is only open three days a week year round so plan accordingly. 9-5 on Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday. In the building to the left of the house is where you start the tour. You watch a short movie that offers a very interesting look into the Rockefellers and what made them tick.

Bassett Hall is a wonderful home to tour! Be aware, that it is NOT a colonial era building. Afterwards try to walk the Bassett trail. It is a beautiful walk about 2.5 miles through the woods. It starts right behind Bassett Hall and goes to the Green Golf Course Club house. Once you get to the Green Course, you NEED to turn around.
