Sep 28, 2012 · A rider survey about BART’s commute period bike pilot, when blackout restrictions were lifted on five Fridays in August, found varied results. Currently, there are bike blackout periods of about two hours during peak weekday commute times in which bikes are not allowed on some trains. Any proposed changes would need to go to the Board of Directors for consideration.

Feb 15, 2013 · BART is rolling closer to allowing bikes on its trains all day, every day. The transit system is setting up a pilot program from Monday, Mar. 18 through Friday, Mar. 22 that will allows bikes at all hours throughout the system. Currently there's a blackout on bikes during commute hours in many highly trafficked stations.
