Apr 02, 2008 · 49 mins 18 secs for a quick scan of 15.5 gig of files with avast! 4.8 on my XP SP2 laptop. That's slow! That is slow when my Standard scan no archives 8GB in 15 minutes if I doubled that for your data size (very rough guestimate) it is still quicker and it is for a Standard scan and not a Quick scan.

Jun 14, 2017 · I was surprised how long my scan was taking, it has been 10+ hours now. I have had the free version of windows 10 and have not had defender because I was using the free version of avast. When I thought avast was not finding and ridding me of a virus I reloaded windows 10 which kept my files and wiped all my applications.

Apr 06, 2016 · Am I correct in presuming that the scheduling of a scan can be accomplished in Avast 2016 Free version, and if so, can its' settings further be adjusted to run while the main administrator is logged off? As far as I know, you need to be signed on as the Administrator to make any changes.

Nothing else was open during scan. 28 minutes 53863/36836 file/folders 78.5 GB It seems to stay on 9% for a long time and I'd say close to 20 minutes of the scan was devoted to only the first 20%.
