Approximately the left 1/3 of the pool is a lap pool, and the other 2/3 is a free-range area (not sure of the correct term ^^;). The 2/3 part is pretty crowded and you get splashed constantly, so I look forward to swimming in the lap pool section next time. Another tip, lap pool is reserved for seniors until 1 pm, at least on weekdays.

The bad news, they have closed the famous diving boards and platforms in the 32 foot pool, we use to call it the big pool. Lap swim does not start until 7pm. I was told in 2008 that only life guards could use the Olympic 8 lane lap section of the pool, boo. Recommendations: 1.Open the big pool, it is the best part of the pool.

I believe the water slides are open from 5 pm to 7 pm. We did not go into the lap pool and stayed primarily in the shallow therapy pool which is warmer and the "lazy river" area which is too small IMO to be considered a "lazy river". The jacuzzi was wonderful.... We paid $6.50 per person for two hours of exercise and relaxation. Great deal!

You can register for them at the pool. And, along with the early bird lap swimming from 7-8:30am, there's going to be "night owl" swimming from 7-8:30pm. Both sessions are M-F and go from July 5-August 31. More about lap swimming, here, and swim programs, here . Posted by megc at 10:38 AM.

I checked around for extended hours/lap swim info on heat emergency days -- and usually, as I understand it, the pool hours are extended until 7:30 (1/2 an hour) and lapswim is bumped back 1/2 an hour (starting at 7:30) -- which conflicts with nyc.gov's announcement that pools would be open until 8:00pm. Confusing.
