On our pedi service, call is more like q4-q5 (but home call) and hours are 6a-6p for the most part. Still about 60-65 hours/week. MICU is the killer, q3 call and, depending on how thorough/OCD you are, work hours are at the 80 hours/week mark, if not over.

About 50-60 hours on average, give or take depending on the rotation. Most of the time I have 2-3 golden (Saturday-Sunday off) weekends a month. We do work hard, and even after you finish your cases, you have to read about your patients for the next day and call your attending to discuss them--that can be time consuming and it can feel like you're just living and breathing anesthesia (no pun intended) all day.

Over a span of 4 weeks, I’ll work a total of 17 shifts in the ED, averaging 4-5 shifts per week. The schedule features a mix of days (7AM-4PM), evenings (2:30-11:30PM), and nights (10PM-7AM).
