Judging by previous responses, it depends on how you count work hours. I have some days when I work 2 hrs and others where I work 18. A couple times I've worked 17-18 hrs for 3 consecutive days. But that is exceedingly rare. On average I think I work around 50-55 hrs per week. However, if I counted home call, I can be over 100hrs some weeks.

About 50-60 hours on average, give or take depending on the rotation. Most of the time I have 2-3 golden (Saturday-Sunday off) weekends a month. We do work hard, and even after you finish your cases, you have to read about your patients for the next day and call your attending to discuss them--that can be time consuming and it can feel like you're just living and breathing anesthesia (no pun intended) all day.

Our Monday-Friday is very busy and efficient, so we hit all our numbers with ease. Our hospital has a large crna work force, so we are not depended on to do all the boring everyday appy/choles. We do about 15 24 hour calls per year. So definitely depends on the program and how much the residents are depended on.

Of the three, evenings tend to be the busiest. Occasionally, one of the senior residents or attendings will gather everyone to share a teaching case.
