Alpental is more of an advanced mountain, with little to no grooming. It is a blast, especially going up to the top and skiing the backside. If you want more of a family experience you will probably want to stick with Snoqualmie. Either way, you can't beat the convenience of a 45 min. drive from Seattle to the mountain.

Summit Central normally stays open 7 days a week through the first week of April and then runs weekends until the middle of April.
